Issue des planches à dessin de Giorgio Giugiaro, cette MV Agusta Ipotesi 350 GT 1977 est une petite bête rare. Et bien qu’aujourd’hui en carte grise française, elle provient directement d’une collection transalpine.

Mais revenons-en au style de cette machine. La marque, qui n’est pas au mieux de sa forme au milieu des années 70, commande à Italdesign une mise à jour esthétique de son modèle bicylindre de 350 cm3, produit depuis 69.

Giorgio Giugiaro relève le défi, et va même plus loin que le constructeur italien ne l’espérait, en redessinant les pièces moulées des carters en alu, et en innovant sur la partie cycle avec un cadre à berceau ouvert. Ainsi naquit la 350 Ipotesi, dans sa livrée or et bleue.

L’exemplaire présenté ici est une restauration complète et sérieuse, en pièces d’origine, signée de la main de Giacomo Agostini il y a quelques années. Son moteur “carré” en fait une moto pointue, attachante et assez démente à piloter. Historique et visuels des travaux entrepris présents.

From the drawing boards of Giorgio Giugiaro, this 1977 MV Agusta Ipotesi 350 GT is a rare little beast. And although having today a french registration, it comes directly from a transalpine collection.

But back to the style of this machine. The brand, which was not in its best shape in the mid-1970s, commissioned Italdesign to give an aesthetic update to its 350 cc twin-cylinder model, produced since 1969.

Giorgio Giugiaro took up the challenge, and went even further than the Italian manufacturer had hoped, by redesigning the castings of the aluminum crankcases, and by innovating on the chassis with an open cradle frame. Thus was born the 350 Ipotesi, in its gold and blue livery.

The specimen presented here got a complete and serious restoration, with original parts, and was signed by the hand of Giacomo Agostini a few years ago. Its “square” engine makes it a sharp, endearing and quite insane motorcycle to ride. History and photographs of the work done provided.
